Our Business Group Faurecia Interiors, which develops and produces dashboards, center consoles, cockpit and door panels, is looking for an Advanced Engineer, specialized in steel and graining for injection moulds for its Méru R & D Center (Hauts-de-France).

Job Description:

The Advanced Engineer will be the technical referent in grain and steel for injection moulds in an international environment. He will provide technical support domain by offering his product and process expertise on several projects and at various stages of product design. Numerous international trips will be necessary to support the project teams.

He will lead Product & Process development methods through Standards and Guidelines definition, and will ensure their application in various projects.

The grain and steel for injection moulds domain includes:

- Feasibility analysis of graining process

- Steel definition according to applications (product finishing, raw material injected)

- Action plan implementation for moulding surface tuning (grain correction, polishing)

- Technical solutions to prevent steel wear, corrosion.


The main tasks of the Advanced Engineer in grain and steel for injection moulds will be to:

• Bring expertize in product design, tooling concept and process settings

• Promote and deploy Faurecia's technology portfolio to project teams from the acquisition phase, to the development phase, to serial life

• Conduct internal and external benchmarks and monitor technological progress in order to build the technological roadmap in line with the company's Strategic Plan

• Capitalize technical knowledge on its domain through the writing of standards and policies for product / process design and development, in collaboration with other departments

• Initiate improvement of the existing standards based on feedback from project teams

• Transfer technical know-how within Faurecia Interiors: design and facilitate training modules within the Technology Academy (internal university)

Specific technical knowledge of the injection domain:

·         Scientific approach (6 sigma, analytics methods, ADI, rheology analysis etc.)

·         Expertise in plastic injection mould graining processes : chemical graining and laser graining

·         Expertise in steel for injection mould applications : steel chemical composition and steel manufacturing know-how

·         Skilled in surface technologies: knowledge and experience of the existing coatings and their properties (nitriding, ceramic, deposits)

·         Skilled in steel treatments: knowledge and experience of existing processes and characteristics (laser polishing, ball blasting, heat treatment, metal joining)

·         Skilled in plastic injection mould manufacturing processes: EDM, polishing, welding

·         Basic knowledge of plastic injection moulding: tooling design, rheology, process, injection moulding machines

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Master degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanics, Plastics) or equivalent

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in small parts (Product, Tooling and Equipment, Process)

• Fluent in English

• Interpersonal skills

• Ability to facilitate meetings and workshops with other departments and suppliers

• Curiosity and passion for technical domains

• Overseas experience is a plus.

• Flexibility for frequent international business trip

• Knowledge of standard software (MS Office) and at ease with digital design tools
