Description :
The BG Equipment Commodity Manager is in charge of Business Group commodity strategy, global supplier panel, deployment of commodity best practices and tools and budget achievements.  He/she defines innovation criteria to evaluate supplier innovation capabilities for the commodity, manage activities of Regional Commodity Buyers to leverage global purchasing spend, and leads negotiations with global suppliers as appropriate.
The commodity represents a spend of 90 M€ based on 2013 budget.
The main missions of the role are :
• Define the BG commodity strategy (segmentation, consolidation, market analysis, cost drivers and cost model analysis, panel management) in coordination with Division/Region Purchasing Commodity
• Negotiate contracts with global suppliers in coordination with commodity buyers
• Contribute to the deployment of the BG commodity strategy through the serial and program sourcing activities in all the regions
• Responsible for the quality, cost and delivery (QCD) performance of the suppliers of his commodity and when necessary support the corrective actions
• Sponsor the innovation through identification of breakthrough solutions from suppliers to generate competitive products for our customers
• Work in close cooperation with ME Department to establish standards and specifications of Equipments
• Participate to the Make or Buy strategies.
• Animate network and manage functionally Commodity Managers & Buyers dedicated to the specific commodity
• Provide expertise, share and deploy best practices to commodity managers and buyers under his responsibility
• Drive the Global Sourcing strategy by participating to the Regional Sourcing Committees.
  • Work jointly with other BG’s  to find new suppliers, and leverage common.
  • Track performance according to purchasing metrics globally and provide support and guidance to continuously improve individual, Division and Business Group results.
  • Current metrics include Purchased Part Variance, Purchasing Index, Supplier Panel, Supplier PPM., % LCC
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Masters degree in engineering with a specialisation in international purchasing
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the same level of position in an industrial environment 
  • Results oriented  with strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organisation
  • International mind set, overseas experience a plus 
  • Minimum bi-lingual (English required)
