Our Seating Division is looking for an Design Engineer to be based at its North America Headquarter at Auburn Hills.
The Design Engineer is responsible for the design development of new or existing products. They produce complete engineering design translated in CAD models and create all the associated documentation:
  • Generates design concepts and produces Designs that achieve/conform to the design concepts, parameters and calculations provided by a project engineer or lead engineer.
  • Responsible for drawings, BOMs, Tolerance Chain Management for his/her dedicated parts from the first draft to the final version taken into account kinematic package and interference investigations
  • Develops designs that are feasible to produce with the manufacturing processes available.
  • Performs engineering calculations for mass, strength and mechanical performance
  • Evaluates seat and mechanism kinematics
  • Prepares and maintains engineering release and change documents
  • For each assigned project, provide alternative design solutions accompanied by analysis, supporting information and recommendations.
  • Ensures the accuracy of Designers and Detailer’s work by giving them clear, complete technical direction and by checking the output.
  • Maintains strong familiarity with specific customer CAD data integrity requirements and applies them as required.
  • Ensures that the designs are in compliance with government and customer specifications and regulations
  • Complete all assignments with the prescribed schedules.
  • Actively participate in product design reviews, Design FMEA’s and Functional Milestone reviews.
  • Provides GD&T in a complex environment for all assembly parts and manages all changes
  • Integrates and manages CAD models (3D and drawings) and BOM’s into appropriate PLM system
  • Other duties and special projects assigned
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3 years in engineering role
  • Appropriate training in program specific CAD software.
  • Train in the use and proper application of GD&T.
  • Extensive knowledge of CATIA, UG.
  • Expertise in the design of Seat components and systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with primary manufacturing methods.
  • Can interact with customer designers and engineers
