Our FCM Division is looking for Group Leader – FEA for its R&D Center at Pune.

Position Description

Title                        : Group Leader – FEA

Reports to             : CAE Manager


Design and development of exhaust systems, parts and subassemblies from FEA and durability  perspective. Leading a team: managing quality, delivery and cost through effective communication, polyvalence, technology, problem solving and resource management.


o    8 years of experience in the Finite Element Analyses using Nastran, Abaqus & Hyper Works. Preferable experience in automotive domain.

o    3 years experience in managing resources, polyvalence, customer relationship. Experience in simulation and methodological layout of exhaust system components considering the FEA & durability requirements.


Principal Accountability:

o    Planning necessary resources with respect to due date                                                                         

o    Provide design solutions and recommendations for development of exhaust designs from FEA & durability perspective

o    Technical report preparation and presentation to PLE/AFO/CTO/customer

o    Support and / or active participation in international professional networks in FECT (incl. documentation)

o    Identify and share the lessons learned and best practices

o    Prepare training plan, Execute trainings, measure effectiveness

o    Prioritizing quality and delivery failures, performing LineQRCI to identify root causes

o    Preparing preventive and corrective actions plan to address the root causes derived from Line QRCi

o    Maintain, track quality & on time delivery metrics for all work requests

o    Supporting standardization, harmonization and documentation of calculation methodologies, including working procedures.

o    Participate in deriving KPI's and priorities to improve performance of  group/team/BTC

o    If necessary, participate in the optimization of IT hardware structures and simulation processes / IT environment as well as their implementation

o    Assessment of new software and updates

o    Market investigation concerning products, tools and technologies

o    Participate in closure of open positions for the group as per ER

o    Coordinate and lead Top5 and GAP meetings as per FES requirement

o    Ensuring billability for team members & capture the hours spent by the resources.

o    Setting goals & objectives and conduct performance reviews for the group/team members

o    Participate in deriving hardware, software and training needs for the group/team/department/BTC

o    Effective utilization of the resources.

o    Taskmanagement – resource allocation, priority assessment, communication etc.


Technical know-how:

o    Theory knowledge in FEA, Vibration, Materials, Strength of Materials.                                                                            

o    Theory knowledge in Fatigue failures (LCF & HCF)

o    Failure theories and its influence on durability failures.

o    Skills in design,  project / program management.

o   Testing equipment, setup and analysis     

o    Manufacturing Processes : studies bending, canning, muffler manufacturing, stamping, welding



o FEA / Durability software (Nastran, Abaqus, Optistruct                                                                                   

o    FEA pre/post processing (Hyper Works, Abaqus Viewer)

o    MS-office & Unix / Linux applications

o    Linux Script writing

o    Experience on Animator, Medina, LMS Virtual Lab, Minitab

o    Programming languages (Fortran, C/C++)


Other requirements:

o    Must have International mind set, ability to work with international customers.

o    Should have the ability to present analysis results effectively.

o    On need basis, willing to travel to customer places, local or overseas.

o    Self driven and team oriented

o    Valid passport.

o    Spoken and written communication.

The ideal candidate will have/be:


Qualification: B.E or M.Tech or Ph.D in Mechanical/Automobile related engineering.
