Faurecia Interior Systems (FIS) is looking for an Innovation Engineer with located at the Research & Development Centre, Hagenbach, Germany


Main tasks are :


Autonomous management and co-ordination of Innovation projects for new development of materials, products & processes in the field of automobile interior with the focus to innovative thermal comfort and management applications. Definition and completion of the Innovation project targets according to FIS internal Innovation process in respect of time and budget Targets.


Management of Innovation projects for validation of technical and industrial feasibility and commercial competitiveness of innovative thermal ideas in automobile interior.

Single Tasks :

  • Support  the market analysis and project definition  for the thermal management approach for automotive
  • Support the creation and lead the validation of innovative concepts for interior thermal comfort respecting market trends and (end) customer needs, system approach and value creation for Faurecia.
  • Lead the validation process from first proof of concept by design, simulation and representative test parts to fulfilment of the Innovation validation process
  • Compilation of project target/task/timing incl. resource and budget plans.
  • Control of the budgeted project costs, taking countermeasures at deviation and communication on budget adjustment for research projects.
  • Compilation and follow-up of project plans, creation of concept matrices and feasibility studies in accordance with corresponding departments.
  • Compilation and building of Innovation Validation Plans (based on conceptional study results, risk analysis (incl. FMEA’s), internal & external functional analysis, application of scientific methodologies) according to FIS innovation process
  • Conduct monthly project reviews with key stakeholders and other participants depending on the project phase. PDCA / minutes to be followed up.
  • Analyse and Documentation of research results in the form of research reports, presentations, drawings/ sketches, models, prototypes, concept part lists and results from simulation calculations etc.
  • Preparation and presentation of the project milestone at the relevant Innovation Committees in accordance with the Innovation Process.
  • Ensure patent protection of innovative solutions in close cooperation with the Intellectual Assets Department.
  • Ensure alignment with Concept Engineering and GTS to communicate and assure good transfer of innovation projects into serial development
  • Co-operation with external development partners aligned and guidance of suppliers in pre-development projects.
  • Acts cost-consciously in all aspects of business (project, travel etc)
  • Supervision of master thesis, internships where applicable.
  • Support and develop the thermal knowledge and approach ( system definition, simulation , tools, testing methodologies,…)


The ideal candidate should be/have: 


  • Degree (Master) in Engineering, ideally in any of the following engineering disciplines with an orientation in thermal / energy / thermodynamics : Polymer/Composite, Transport/Automotive, Mechanisms, Mechatronics
  • At least 3-5 years (pre-)development experience within the field of automotive thermal comfort (hardware, software, simulation, integration) in an industrial environment. Profound knowledge in other fields of climate cabine is favorable.
  • Experience in project management
  • Structured & systematic working style with scientific & engineering pragmatic mindset.
  • Team Player with extended communication skills at all levels.
  • Beeing characterized by self driven & dynamic task approach and open and creative mindset.
  • International mindset
  • At least bi-lingual (English is compulsory, German or/and french is a real plus).
