Our Faurecia Clean Mobility business is looking for a Process Specialist – Assembly / DFMA / PFA / EDW for its Technical Center in Columbus, IN.


This position is responsible for evaluating programs in development to ensure the ease of manufacturing and assembly at an optimized cost utilizing standard tooling, equipment and processes. Technical lead for the training and application of PFA / EDW / 3D-PPFA
      • Work with the AFO to apply standard tooling, equipment, and process for NAO and global applications.
      • Lead the program teams with development of EDW’s (Equipment Design Workshop), PFA’s (Process Functional Analysis), CBW’s(Cardboard Workshop).
      • Work with the operations group to understand manufacturing facility plans and incorporate those early into the product processing.
      • Work with manufacturing facilities to provide technical assistance and training to resolve manufacturing issues.
      • Work with the product specialists to define proper tolerances and datum structures for manufacturability so they can be incorporated into designs.
      • Work with the Tooling & Process Simulation engineers to perform stack up analytical calculations and drive design and process changes based on the results.
      • Lead stack up analysis/calculations including component and assembly tolerances along with process sequence and variation.
      • Support acquisition programs as needed through the review of systems designs before submission to the customer.
      • Represent NAO RPS in all DFMA and related global network activities sharing and applying lessons learned in the usage, creation, and release of standards.
      • Evaluate DCS derogations, and approve or reject as appropriate.
      • Work with advanced product development to develop robust manufacturing processes prior to series production.
      • Work with purchasing to support supplier technical meeting and decisions based on supplier capabilities and expertize.
      • Work with Program Teams to evaluate drawings for conformance to GD&T standards and/or compliance to process function and assembly.
      • Support meetings with customers to reinforce manufacturing requirements, GD&T standards, and define tolerance and datum schemes when standards are not possible.
      • Work with the product specialist defining the GD&T for his/her specific product.
      • Complete all other duties and tasks as assigned by management

The ideal candidate will have/be:


  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing processing of exhaust systems and components. (Welding, Canning, Mufflers, Bending, Stampings)
  • Knowledge and experience with processes design, line layout and optimization (FES principles)
  • Knowledge of tool design
  • Knowledge of customer processes and systems
  • Understands the use of predictive tools and associated processes
  • Computer literate
  • Experience with and ability to drive structured problem solving methodology
  • Certified in GD&T or multiple years of experience with applying GDT to fabricated assemblies.
Desirable qualifications:
  • Concurrent Engineering
  • VA/VE
  • Gauge design experience
  • Deep understanding of PFA / EDW / CBW / Stack-up Analysis
  • Exhaust System Application Engineering
  • Experience with 3DCS or similar 3D stack-up software and methodology
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Catia, or NX)
