Project Engineer—Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

 

Faurecia Automotive Seating, LLC in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a Project Engineer – Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate product design for vehicle seats and component systems. This is an advanced validation engineering position responsible for FEA simulation of vehicle seating systems for the Requests for Quotation (RFQ), application, and serial life phases.  Duties:  use HyperWorks and LS-DYNA to analyze, define, and execute FEA simulation plans for vehicle seating systems RFQ, application, and serial life phases; validate and evaluate FEA results (including analysis of compatibility between seating component and system design and design specifications, and cost optimization for product design, process, and material selection), and write FEA reports; work with seating design engineers on product design improvements, and with customer engineering representatives on product specifications; define and negotiate FEA validation plans and statements of work for seating program phases; correlate FEA results to actual test results, and evaluate accuracy of FEA simulations to improve FEA models and further optimize validation plans; estimate FEA budget for seating programs.  

Minimum education required:  Master degree in Engineering, or foreign equivalent.  Minimum experience required:  2 years’ experience in an FEA engineering position with a Tier-1 automotive seating supplier.  Special skills:  Must have 2 years’ work experience in each of the following:  use HyperWorks to build and process, and LS-DYNA to calculate, FEA models of seat components (including tracks, recliners, height adjusters, and easy-entry mechanisms); use HyperWorks to build and process, and LS-DYNA to calculate, FEA models of complete seats for static and dynamic simulations of Safety & Regulation Load Cases (frontal and rear impact, whiplash, luggage retention, seat anchorage strength, and child seating restraints); simulation of seat welding failures.  Experience may be acquired concurrently.  Send resume to Faurecia Automotive Seating, LLC, Attn: Anna Rossi, 2800 High Meadow Circle, Auburn Hills, Michigan 48326, or apply online at www.faurecia.com (Job # RES17816).
