Our IT Department – Group Information Systems - is looking for a Telecom Specialist to be based in Sao João da Madeira, PORTUGAL. The Telecom specialist is part of the Telephony Competencies Centre.

The main missions of the role are to:

  • establish, implement and re-evaluate a worldwide telecom strategy on a regular basis.

  • define and deploy the global telecom standards (incl. HW (hardware) for Smartphones, IPT)

  • deploy VoIP on the WAN accordingly with IPT deployment

  • optimize and maintain QoS performance across the WAN

  • manage the relationships with telecom service providers (with involvement of Group Purchasing Department) – technically as well as commercially – contracts negotiation – invoices tracking

  • monitor continuously the telecom market (technology watch, costs, legal changes) to identify potential for optimization and/or risks

  • support sites in managing telecom services including reducing costs

  • provide L3 Support (incl. training and support documentation with best practices, invoice monitoring, ...)


The ideal candidate will have/be:
Minimum education level : Degree in Communications Engineering or equivalent qualification
Experience :
  • Minimium 3 years in the Telecom or a related field

Skills and competencies

  • Knowledge of UC&C products (e.g. Microsoft Skype for Business, CISCO Jabber, ...) including telepresence / video systems (CISCO would be advantageous)
  • Knowledge of IPT and VoIP
  • Ability to manage projects and project teams
  • Motivation and ability to work independently
  • Focused on service and quality
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English language : written and oral
  • Excellent understanding of the telecom market : technology & economics (local/regional/global)
  • Team player
  • Willingness to travel
