Our Clean Mobility division is looking for a Welding Engineer for its Columbus South Manufacturing Plant located in Columbus, Indiana.
 
The Welding Engineer is responsible for the process design and implementation. The main missions of the role are to:
  • The role of a Weld Engineer is to develop welding techniques, procedures and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals utilizing knowledge of production specifications and characteristics of of metals and metal alloys and engineering principles. The main missions of the role are to:
    • Conducts research and development investigations to improve existing fabrications and procedures
    • Conducts research and development investigations to test new fabrications and proceedures
    • Investigates and tests to improve existing or new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods , techniques or proceedures
    • Develop and impiment prevenitive maintenance programs for the welding shop
    • Establishes welding proceedure to guide production and welding personel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, with special empasis on special treatment of stainless steel alloys. Which involve the use of unusual facrication methods.
    • Provide leadership in the handling of complex weld joints or complex metal heat requirements
    • Evaluates new developments in the welding field for posible application to current welding problems or production processes
    • Directs and coordinates technical personel in performing inspections to insure worker complience with established welding peoceedures, restrictions and standards: in testing weld for conformance to customer codes requirements
    • Directs and trains personel in performing welding operations to insure worker complience with established welding peoceedures, restrictions and standards: for the perpose of the employee being able to create produce product to customer codes requirements or testing welding personel for certification
    • Contacts other engineering personel to exchange ideas , exchange ideas or offer technical advice concerning welding matters
    • May perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques and materials
    • Deployment and sustaining ongoing compliance to NAO Weld Standardization guidelines
    • Commitment to the highest ethical standards and willingness to adhere to Faurecia’s Code of Ethics and Code of Management.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Weld or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience as an Welding Engineer in an industrial environment
  • Results oriented
  • Certification in a Welding standard such as ASME BPVE VIII or ASME/AWS-CWI or ASME CWI/E helpful but not required
