Our North American Faurecia Clean Mobility Division is looking for a Welding Specialist for its Technical Center in Columbus, IN.

 

The Welding Specialist has a transversal role which bring industrial coherence regarding his/her field of competence. He/She is responsible to:

 

- Support processes development and improvement, and validate product definitions mainly during the launch phase.

- Ensure development and deployment of process standards, design checklist and guidelines best practices.

- Support programs, plants and suppliers for process issues.

 

During pre-development and Programs:

  • Ensure process standards are applied (DCS, guidelines, best practices)

  • Define process and industrial equipment and tooling for exhaust  that are capable and stable, taking into account product constraints (life-time duration, flow gas pressure, mass …), production constraints (capabilities, Lean manufacturing …) , regulation & rules (HSE, PSE, …), economical constraints and best practices.

  • Release technological choices for non standard/innovations through MVPs (Manufacturing Validation Plans). Add components improvements if needed and /or propose process parameters improvements; Write-off trials synthesis (Design rules) for program Team.

  • Support prototypes manufacture (Process key points and representatively).

  • Contribute to Process FMEA and define provisional inspection plans

  • Equipment : Specification, follow-up and reception (new or re-used, quality-cost-lead-time responsibility), contacts with suppliers, taking into account Faurecia rules (safety and PSE)

With plants:

  • Contribute to continuous improvements of processes and equipment.

  • Trouble shooting: Support production or parts suppliers to solve problems related to his/her field of expertise.

  • ECR, productivity:  Analyze, validate and implement process modifications related to his/her field of expertise.

  • Ensure competencies transfer to make the Plant be autonomous.

  • Ensure that process standards are applied, promote and ensure deployment of best practices

  • Participate to follow-up, reception and R@R of the equipment (new or re-use) and tooling, including try-outs.

In his/her field of competence:

  • Can define the right process for an assembly, standard machineries associated. Is able to adjust the process based on joining aspects. Have some theoretical  and practical experience on the different processes.

  • Capitalize know-how; define and up-date design and process guidelines (Standardization).

  • Develop and improve processes.

  • Contribute to Product/Process innovative solutions.

  • Maintain and up-date equipment  and specs, tooling, relative to mufflers

  • Support the Purchasing organization during suppliers’ selections and negotiations.

  • Participate to the expertise network in his/her field of competence.

 

The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University & Qualified in Six Sigma (Black belt)
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Trained in:  6 Sigma, Lean manufacturing principles and Kaizen facilitation
  • Strong leadership skills, experience working in a unionized environment
  • Ability to learn and apply new concepts and overcome obstacles with change
  • Previous exposure to a high volume multi-product manufacturing  environment
  • Ability to work with and influence others in a fast paced environment
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards and willingness to adhere to Faurecia’s Code of Ethics and Code of Management
Technical and Experience Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft word, excel applications
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Training in CAD
  • Strong operational and Quality focus, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement implementation
