Summer Formula Student Races

For the second year in a row, Faurecia sponsored Formula Student Germany, an international design competition that takes place at the famous racing track in Hockenheimfrom August 8 to 13.

"The teams have developed some unconventional but very interesting solutions. Their passion for innovation is inspiring, I am deeply impressed by their engineering skills" commented Christophe Schmitt, Executive Vice President Faurecia Clean Mobility.

The 3800 engineering students from all around the world had to design a single-seater formula race car for one of three categories: combustion, electric and – for the first time ever – driverless. To win, teams had to beat their competitors in a race and receive the best overall marks for construction, performance, and business and marketing plans from experts in the automotive and motorsports industry.

Faurecia focused its sponsoring activities on 7 of the 115 teams from partner universities in Germany (TU Munich, Hochschule Ulm, Hochschule Augsburg, RWTH Aachen and Hannover University)  , France ( Institut Superieur de l‘Automobile et des Transports Nevers) and the United States (Corvallis State University ). Even though none of the teams supported made it to the top, Faurecia is very proud! Even though this year none of our teams made it to the top, Faurecia is very proud of the teams! Let's keep supporting our teams and achieve better results next year.

Just a few days earlier, Faurecia took part for the first time in the Formula Student Races in Varano, Italy. The Group sponsored the Czech UWB Racing Pilsen Team from the University of West Bohemia during the event which was held on July 23. They came fourth among 60 teams and clocked the best finish time!

Meeting formula students is a great way to promote our reputation as an employer among young graduates in partner schools. It's also the perfect opportunity to talk about our shared automotive passion and the variety of engineering opportunities at Faurecia.
