Our Clean Mobility is looking for a Deputy Plant Manager for its Tier 1 Manufacturing Site at Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Deputy Plant Manager is responsible for FES and plant operationnal improvement and has a management delegation responsibility from the plant manager for  specific area and/or functions within the plant (for ex UAPs, maintenance, PC&L, engineering, new program…).

In his perimeter he keeps plant manager accountability to  deliver its budget committment  measured through gross margin and inventory level, which means:

  • Secure foundations in his plant: safetyf employee/ adequate customer satisfaction: quality and deliveries on time/ empowered employees and work force.
  • Manage his  P&L to drive the appropriate actions to adapt plant resources and costs to volume variation, and manage launch preparation cost for new programs

The main missions of the role are:

  1. To drive continuous and breakthrough improvement through plant priorities and resources defined by the PIP (plant improvement plan) and aligned with PMT business targets using the FES (Faurecia Excellence System) tools and methodologies to support execution
  2. In his area (according to the delegation given by the plant manager), to contribute partially or be accountable on the basics plant management missions:
  • Ensure safety of employees
  • Ensure permanent customer satisfaction and intimacy: quality and deliveries
  • Manage variable margin: direct labor efficiciency and productivity/ rmaterial cost consumption/ Scrap and rework reduction
  • Manage fixed cost: indirect labor/ manufacturing costs/ invenotry variances
  • Manage inventories: appropriate information management and physical flow in the plant.
  • Set plant lay out for optimal flow and efficient use of equipments: capacity, reliability, operating costs, CAPEX control
  • Support sales department for customer claims negotiation
  • Act within program team as early as acquisition, to create best conditions for production, secure launches and ensure competitiveness/ profitability of the new programs.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement, and material consumption reduction with purchasing department
  • Respect for the environment and security of the plant
  • Participate in PMT construction to confirm plant mid-term vision and future
  • Fulfill legal responsibilities and interface with local authorities
  • Secure internal control with the support of financial controler and finance network
  • Ensure staffing, induction, training, empowerment and development of all plant employees including managers & professionals, and develop his team to prepare succession
  • Manage labour relations
  • Manage social climate

The ideal candidate will have/be with a Minimum education level Master’s degree

  • Proven experience in production management and lean manufacturing / FES production system/ Toyota production system
  • Proven experience in team management with leadership and coaching skills
  • Ability to build and manage a P&L budget. Knowledge in Finance.
  • Results oriented
  • English fluent
