Position Summary: The Acquisition Engineer maintains functional leadership of all technical aspects of technical proposal to OEM request for quotes. Job scope includes a strong OEM interaction with focus on exceeding expectations as related to quality, delivery, cost effectiveness and performance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Elaboration of a master schedule
  • Independent and self-reliant performance of benchmarking evaluations including reporting
  • Definition of component requirements including critical features as well as identification of components requiring documentation
  • Elaboration of product specifications and FIS supplier performance specifications
  • Selection of material types (families)
  • Documentation performance with respect to each relevant valid system such as Galileo etc.
  • Cooperation with respect to the elaboration of tool concepts as well as to establishing tool specifications
  • Cooperation with respect to FMEA product and process
  • Cooperation with respect to the determination of quality features
  • Assignment adoption with respect to PL Concepts & Acquisitions in accordance with the Acquisition Engineering Manager
  • Implementation of the Department’s objectives
  • Application of modern management methods to monitor all individual projects
  • Support with respect to pre-development and research tasks
  • Co-responsibility for technical presentations of submissions and quotes
  • Selection of all process technologies in accordance with the Project Leader Concepts & Acquisitions respectively with the project team
  • Documentation performance with respect to minutes of meetings, call reports and the distribution of relevant documents
  • Allocate project hours within each relevant valid system, e.g. SAP
  • Supervise interns and graduates currently working on their thesis
  • Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
  • Capitalizes on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site
  • Support the leadership and commitment from top management according to the NAO environmental policy and ISO 14001.

Position Specifications

Authorities:

  • Establishing preliminary BOM

 

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Intermediate to proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing process such as injection molding, covering and assembling
  • With regards to labor costs, machine costs and time of process
  • Strong mathematical skills required in order to understand cost development
  • Ability to communicate decisions with credibility and confidence
  • Ability to interact effectively with all hierarchic levels

 

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or a related engineering discipline
    • And/or a minimum of 4 - 6 years of cost estimation experience in the automotive industry
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in design and development within an industrial environment, preferably in automotive interior parts
