Cost Estimator - JIT

Overall responsibilities and duties:


The primary responsibility of the Cost Estimator JIT is developing a comprehensive cost models for seat assembly plants to support the new business acquisition process. The cost model will provide business plan input budgets for Annual Direct Labor Cost, Annual Indirect Labor Cost, Manufacturing Burden, Investment List, Launch Cost, Manufacturing Engineering, Etc. The elements of understanding needed for this role is plant organization charts, product assembly times including line balancing, assembly cell layouts, plant infrastructure, plant layouts, plant operation knowledge. This role will work closely with the project controller, quote program manager, operations, engineering and will have high visibility to top management.   



The main missions of the role are:


  • Lead new vehicle programs, in acquisition phase for industrialization and feasibility for new programs and plants
  • Create equipment and tooling list, preform capacity study, develop launch cost and manufacturing engineering budget, handle the labor rates with HR for hourly and salaried employees
  • Build organizational chart for plant in preparation for start of production
  • Handle costed bill of materials (BOMs) for Plant – work with purchasing and others on team to formulate pricing. Handle the cost pro forma of plant operational costs
  • Other duties as assigned



 Minimum education level:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance or related field.



 5 years industrial experience in one of the following areas that focuses on high volume assembly: cost estimating, operations, or manufacturing engineering.


Skills & Competencies:


  • Seat experience is highly preferred
  • High volume manufacturing with focus on assembly
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Excellent Math and Critical Thinking Skills
  • Ability to work with multiple organizational departments and lead team for united agreement
