Position Summary: The GTS Engineer is responsible for being the technical reference for his/her Technology domain, based upon the 4 GTS missions conveyed in this job description. The overall job scope for this role includes strong interaction and communication with internal and external (OEM/Suppliers) engineering, working groups, and other Faurecia BG’s.
Responsibilities:
- GTS Mission A: “Build the Technology roadmap through internal and external benchmark, innovation drive and Strategic Plan fueling”
- Understand Product & Process market in collaboration with benchmarking, marketing etc.
- Evaluate and analyze Technology solutions (Faurecia Technology portfolio, OEMs & competitors).
- Identify Best practices & contribute to identify market needs.
- Be aware of the key patents for the Technology (Faurecia Technology portfolio, OEM & competitors).
- Identify and analyze key gaps between the Technology domain portfolio and the market needs (from marketing department). Contribute to reduce these gaps through the actions plans of the Technology roadmap (innovation projects and technology improvement projects).
- Contribute to identify and develop Technology Breakthrough.
- Validate the robustness of the innovations (product & process performance)
- Contribute to the Technology review.
- GTS Mission B: “Create and Maintain standards including lessons learned and
capitalization”
- Create standards for FIS Technology portfolio and according to Technology roadmap in collaboration with other departments.
- Improve standards based on feedback from plant & project (lessons learned, compliance to standards, scraps, TRS, tuning cost, alerts…).
- GTS Mission C: “Promote and deploy the Technology portfolio of standards from acquisition
to serial life”
- Support Customer Engineering in the promotion of the Faurecia standards towards the OEMs.
- Provide the reference of the standards that development teams must apply to ensure products/process robustness.
- Assess standards compliance during project life & agree on action plan if deviation.
- Attend the design review and use the PPCS tool to evaluate product & process technical maturity, and agree the action plan with the program team
- Collaborate with IPEX for the TAF audit planning and agree on action plan for “processing Technology GTS engineer”.
- Participate to gap analysis to Generic Concepts with PDL and PML for “product GTS engineer”.
- Responsibilities within Mission D: Develop the Technology competencies within FIS, animating networks and
technical trainings
- Contribute to identify new technical training needs, and accordingly create and update training courses with the referent trainer(s)
- Train the people through Technology Academy courses (for the selected GTS)
- Develop internal and external Technology networks through: participation to technical exhibitions & forums, development of the relationships with OEM, supplier counterparts and FIS Experts & Specialists.
- Create standards for FIS Technology portfolio and according to Technology roadmap in collaboration with other departments.
- Improve standards based on feedback from plant & project (lessons learned, compliance to standards, scraps, TRS, tuning cost, alerts…).
- Support programs in the standards application and their design feasibility
- Commitment to the highest ethical standards and willingness to adhere to Faurecia’s Code of Ethics and Code of Management.
- Support the leadership and commitment from top management according to the Group environmental policy and Group Quality Policy
- Specific Responsibilities for Covering Domain.
- Make product-process covering feasibility study and propose improvements to our internal or OEM parts design.
- Propose the different covering process steps
- Specify Tools and Equipment
- Run equipment and perform production trials
- Synthetize in written his/her know-how, lessons learned and improve standards.
- Understand suppliers involved for the covering scope (foils, textiles, foams, adhesives, IMG male thermocovering equipment and tooling).
- Understand the adjoining technologies effects on Covering domain
- Understand the products where Covering technology domain is involved.
Position Specifications
Authorities:
- Create standards for FIS Technology portfolio and according to Technology roadmap in collaboration with other departments.
- Improve standards based on feedback from plant & project (lessons learned, compliance to standards, scraps, TRS, tuning cost, alerts…).
- Support programs in the standards application and their design feasibility
Knowledge / Skills:
- Intermediate to proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel etc..)
- Comfortable with utilization of digital tools
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Understanding of adjoining technologies effects on his/her technology domain.
- Understanding of the systems where his/her technology domain is involved.
- Technological interest and curiosity.
- Scientific approach (6 sigma, etc.).
- Design to cost approach.
- Intercultural and open mindset:
- Overseas experiences a plus.
- Flexibility for frequent business travel.
- Minimum bi-lingual (English required).
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or significant professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the Covering domain (Product, Tooling and Equipment, Process, Materials)
- Minimum 5 years of experience on covering technologies. Positive and IMG thermocovering, thermoforming, textile press covering (Product, Tooling and Equipment, Process, Materials).
