Position Summary:

The role of the Program Controller is to support all financial aspects of a program throughout the product life. The Program Controller will track and ensure proper accounting of all program related costs.  The Program Controller will maintain a robust, detailed business plan that will allow the management team to fully understand the financial status of a program, and that will assist them in making financial decisions for the program.  The Program Controller will guarantee the accuracy of the Business Plan Financials according to Group, Business Group and Division policies, including compliance with relevant accounting and tax rules.



  • Routinely publish a full Business Plan using expected BG resources (TM1), including a P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow assessment
  • Identify and evaluate relevant Risks and Opportunities that are robust and balanced.  Coordinate with Program Manager to develop convergence plans to meet GR#4 targets.
  • Act as a strong, data-based arbitrator between the demands of the Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Purchasing departments.
  • Identify and analyze (walk) the variances between initial and subsequent publication of all business plans.
  • Work closely with the technical costing team and cost analysts to validate the material cost assumptions in the business plan.
  • Validate the economic justification of program investments.
  • Ensure correct projection of the program costs for D&D/Proto spending, Capital Spending, Tooling Spending, etc.
  • Ensure costs are properly projected into future years by validating assumptions for inflation, productivity, and LTA agreements with our customer and vendors.
  • Propose and support suggestions for improving the profitability of the offer, while maintaining adherence to proper costing.
  • Participate in the development of action plans and ensure their financial evaluation and follow-up
  • Support the Program Manager in the management of the dedicated program team.
  • Coordinate assumptions and cost basis with other controllers on site and around the world.
  • Assist in closing the accounting books of our R&D P&L on a monthly basis with forecasting and variances analysis to budget and prior forecast
  • Forecasts monthly R&D P&L and Cash
  • Maintains a cost tracking system for each program to communicate and explain monthly program expenditures
  • Prepares R&D P&L and Cash for annual budget and Strategic Plan
  • Prepares Production P&L detailed variance analysis to budget/forecast by program/plant
  • Conducts 3PV Audit(s) according to PMS timing.
  • Conducts Post Audit after program launch and prepares variance analysis and explanations to latest business plan and assists in construction of convergence plan.
  • Provide other ad hoc financial analysis as requested by the Program Manager or Management Team: Make vs. Buy, Footprint, WCR, Sensitivity, etc.
  • Provide all necessary information requested by internal and external auditors
  • Ensure financial awareness of CBU and Operations teams
  • The employee is responsible for conducting their job within the ISO 9001 standards

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Knowledgeable in Web based intranet systems (ECR Management, etc.)
  • Travel requirement minimal (5-10%).
  • Knowledge and experience working in of finance modules of SAP and finance reporting software such as Oracle is preferred


Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering) or equivalent work experience required.
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years of experience in program and R&D controlling in automotive industry with prior experience in manufacturing and or plant environment
  • International/multicultural experience in another International Automotive Tier 1 preferred
