CAD Engineer Level 2

Position Description

Title          : Senior Engineer – Design

Reports to  : Team Leader – Design

Description:

The Senior Engineer is responsible for design of new or existing products, in line with planning, process, quality targets. He/she produces complete engineering designs translated in CAD models and creates all the associated documentation with in PDM systems.

Qualification & Experience

Bachelors (5+) or Masters (4+) in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering.

 5 years of experience in Product design, product engineering and R&D. Experience in automotive domain preferred.

Principle Accountability

• Generate design concepts and produce conforming designs for each phase of the program : RFQ, Prototype…
• Exposure on optimising designs, considering Durability, fluid flow, Acoustic targets, & manufacturing processes & cost.
• Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documents in the PLM system.
• standard CAD software.
• Preparation of internal and customer drawings and BOM.
• Strong in preparation of drawings with basic GD&T or as per references.
• Knowledge of Sheetmetal/Casting/Forging manufacturing Processes.
• Communicate with the customer on day to day activities.
• Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documents (PDM)
• Execute projects to meet the customer's time line and quality requirements.
• Participate in GAP meeting and update information GAP boards timely
• Actively participate in employee involvement/ Continuos Improvement  activities /knowledge management initiatives.

Must have the following experience:

• Fluent on CATIA V5/UG NX/Creo on both 3D & 2D.
• Product design and development, packaging studies, Dimensioning methodologies, generating production drawings and design release process.
• PLM, example - ENOVIA.
• Working with Design standards, Design check sheets and drafting guidelines.
• Project management experience, prepairing job estimation & timing plan
• Experience in understanding & application of GD&T
• Exposure to design and development environment.
• Experience on design standards and drafting guidelines.

• Multi tool skills, more than one CAD software expereince
• Experience in working with PLM, preferabily PRO Intralink & Wind chill.
• Exposure to product development process .
• Abiltiy to interpret simulation reports.
• Experience on quality systems TS16946.
• Exposure to NAO/Europe Automotive Customer Specifications & Standards.
• Exposure to major OEM desing standards like CES etc.
