Title          : Engineer / Senior Engineer / Advanced Engineer - FEA


Reports to  : Manager – FEA




Design and development of hydrogen storage systems, valves, battery packs, components and subassemblies from thermal and durability perspective. Perform Finite Element Analyses using commercially available FEA applications. Performing FEA simulations steady state, dynamic, thermal,  thermal fatigue and forced response analyses to verify the design of components and sub-systems.


Qualification: B.E or M.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering



  • At least 5 years of experience Finite Element Analysis using Abaqus, Taitherm & HyperWorks
  • Experience in CAE of Fuel Cell stacks / Hydrogen Storage / Composite materials
  • 4+ years of experience in providing design concepts, developing methodologies, standards, and writing procedures. Experience in simulation and methodological layout of exhaust system components considering dynamic, thermal and durability requirements


Principal Accountability:

  • Analysis of structural and thermal specification for design validation of hydrogen storage tanks, cryogenic tanks, fuel cell stacks and valves
  • Structural and dynamic simulations e.g. stress analysis, modal analysis, burst pressure analysis, impact, frequency response analysis, fatigue life predictions and/ or thermal management simulations e.g. heat transfer & thermal fatigue simulations etc. Provide design solutions and recommendations independently
  • Autonomous recommendations based on FEA and thermal results to zero emissions program team
  • Technical report preparation and presentation to global stakeholders
  • Support and / or active participation in internal & external professional networks in FCM (incl. documentation)
  • Identify and share the lessons learned and best practices
  • Maintain, track quality & on time delivery metrics for all work requests
  • Quality review of the simulations executed by FE Analysts, GETs and PGETs
  • Support standardization, harmonization and documentation of calculation methodologies, including working procedures according to PMS / IPMS
  • Implementation / Coordination of basic research projects for the expansion of the company's know-how in the field of FEA and product innovation according to PMS / IPMS
  • If necessary, participate in the optimization of IT hardware structures, assessment of new software and IT environment as well as their implementation
  • Market investigation concerning new products, tools and technologies


Technical know-how:

  • Theorotical knowledge of FEA, Vibration, Materials, Strength of Materials                                                                           
  • Theorotical knowledge in Fatigue failures (LCF & HCF)
  • Knowledge of composite materials, layup development and optimization
  • Knowledge of high precision manufacturing Processes including welding
  • Failure theories and its influence on durability failures
  • Basic skills in design,  project / program management
  • Testing equipment, setup and analysis     



  • Mandatory: FEA / Durability software (Abaqus & Taitherm)                                                                                    
  • Mandatory: FEA pre/post processing (HyperWorks, Abaqus Viewer)
  • Mandatory: knowledge of composites
  • Desirable: LSDyna, Nastran, Optistruct , Digimat for composites
  • MS-office & Unix / Linux applications
  • Good to have: Linux Script writing
  • Good to have: Programming languages (Python, Java)
