Our Faurecia Clarion Electronics (FCE) division is seeking a Functional Safety Expert to be based out of its Farmington Hills, MI location - with occasional travels to Europe and Asia.



  • Implement and maintain System to manage safety requirements in the development phase, with special focus on failure prevention.
  • Be the gate keeper through Program Phases regarding Product Safety aspects.


Main activities will be:

  • Implement and maintain system to manage safety requirements
  • Define system to manage Product Safety requirements in development and prototype build.
  • Keep control over the safety life cycle up-to SOP, implement reporting of risks and issues.
  • Define audit system and perform regular audits in development, prototyping, drive correction/improvement, create reporting.
  • Train the Organization about safety requirements and safety management.
  • Failure prevention during product and process development
  • Perform gap analysis on project level and define actions to achieve compliance.
  • Contribute to and verify Risk Analysis and Risk mitigation using methods like FMEA and FTA regarding safety relevant aspects.
  • Ensure lessons learned in development and prototyping, including manufacturing, assembly, inspection and testing of product safety relevant aspects.
  • Verify that safety requirements are communicated to suppliers (e.g. through KPC designation and contract) and adherence monitored.
  • Be Gate Keeper, drive corrective actions and escalate to Senior Management in case of major risk.

  • Drive risk analysis and problem solving in case of safety issues, verify containment and effectiveness of corrective actions and lessons learned.



Ideal profile is an experimented engineer in the management of safety critical products, knowledge in product safety and liability regulations.


  • Master degree in engineering highly preferred
  • Experience in management of safety critical products, knowledge in product safety and liability regulations
  • In depth knowledge of FMEA methodology and good skills in problem solving methodology (e.g. 8D, Six Sigma, fault tree analysis…)
  • Global knowledge in functional safety standards such as ISO26262 or IEC61508 would be appreciated.
  • Knowledge in quality management standards such as IATF 16949 and VDA.
  • Technological curiosity.
  • Above average communication skills, leadership skills and interpersonal skills
  • English language skills required, ideally French and/or German skills in addition
  • Intercultural and open mindset, overseas experiences a plus.
  • Flexibility for frequent business travel (Europe, China, Japan, …).
  • Minimum English proficiency (bi-lingual preferred)
  • Standard PC software knowledge (MS Office, etc.) and comfortable with digital tools.
