Our Seating Division is looking for a Welding Engineer to be based at its R&D at Monterrey


The Welding Engineer ensures the design, installation and startup of all welding processes in our plant. The role includes participating in early estimation of assembly needs on programs, working through DFA and feasibility assessments with the design team, drafting and launching requests for quotation, managing suppliers during through the equipment design and build, supporting in installation in the plant, validating the output of the equipment achieves the needs of Faurecia. The welding engineer will then will document lessons learned through analysis of Things Gone Right (TGR) and Things Gone Wrong (TGW).


The main missions of the role are:


  • Perform cycle time and work content analysis based on early product design
  • Drive design reviews and DFA assessment with the product engineering team
  • Review customer and internal equipment and product specifications
  • Participate in development base documentation (process flow, PFMEA, control plan)
  • Develop equipment and tooling specifications
  • Participate in RFQ processes with purchasing
  • Lead supplier reviews ensuring compliance to specification
  • Follow and document the selected vendor design reviews and feedback
  • Perform tool and equipment buy off at supplier site
  • Installation of equipment at Faurecia production site
  • Setup and validation of all equipment at Faurecia
  • Development of all working documentation for equipment (Standardized work, OK First Part, TPM, etc)
  • Ensure adherence to rules for ergonomics and HSE
  • On specific projects, review design to ensure product assembly ease, VA/VE activities
  • Participate in feasibility studies
  • Sign-off on all sub assembly designs assuring we have no assembly issues
  • Participate in Prototype builds to assure that assembly process can be run efficiently in Production.


The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Minimum education level: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 
  • Fixture design and troubleshooting
  • Ability to setup from zero a robotic welding system
  • Knowledge of multiple robot operating systems (Fanuc, Motoman, Kuka, ABB, etc)
  • Knowledge of multiple welding power supplies (Bosch MFDC, Lincoln, SKS, Fronius, Trumpf etc)
  • Understanding of how to setup and validate welding parameters in (resistance, MAG, laser, etc)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to adjust tools based on quality reports
  • Experience in performing capability studies and gage R&R
  • Ability to perform an analyze weld cross sections
  • Development of equipment documentation, Operator Instruction, FMEA, TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance), PSR (Process Securization Rate)
