Our Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) department is looking for an HSE Intern for its Faurecia Interiors plant in Saline, MI.


The role of a HSE Intern is to lead, advise and coordinate all functional interaction and performance to ensure the facility meets or exceeds all company, local, state, and federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration and Environmental Protection Agency (OSHA, EPA) regulations and industry standards.  The HSE Intern may employ various skills for communicating safety and environmental policies; supervising first aid and local medical care procedures; coordinating emergency actions; ordering equipment and supplies; maintaining Faurecia Interior System general work standards.


The main missions of the role are to:

  • Coach and support the site management and employees;
  • Conduct new hire orientation to Faurecia HSE rules and obligations;
  • Monitoring employee exposure to workplace hazards and bring solutions to improve the working conditions;
  • Coordinate Hazard assessments and coaching of Safety teams (Core Teams) to identify and correct unsafe acts and conditions;


  • Maintain current level of knowledge on applicable government, industry and corporate guidelines;
  • Assist Engineering with or by completing safety evaluations of new or relocated machinery;
  • Assist HSE involvement with plant program teams on new program launches;
  • Evaluate and recommend improvement on ergonomic practices and workstation assessment;
  • Perform routine and special workplace inspections;
  • Assist with the development of an annual regulatory compliance plan to include applicable plans, permits and training;
  • Assist with incident investigations and documentation;
  • Assist with the HSE database data, documents and records;
  • Assist with the site's relations with local government and regulatory organizations;
  • Assist with relevant routine briefings, action plans and reports for governmental or company;
  • Participate in Faurecia's HSE network;
  • Assist with the plant return to work and safety program;
  • Assist with any additional tasks as assigned by the company;


The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environment Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Knowledge of HSE tools and methods: 5 why methodology, job instruction, audits, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001 (ISO45001) management systems
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) regulations;
  • General knowledge of automotive production plant technologies
  • Current U.S. passport or ability to obtain
  • Proficient level of English, with French or Spanish as a plus
