Launch and Engineering Manager


Our Clean Mobility Division is looking for a Launch and Engineering Manager to be based at its Clean Mobility Site in Toledo, OH.
The main mission of the role are to:

Full ownership of all Industrial Development activities of the Program:

  • Responsible for the work packages execution for the Industrial Development of the Program at the Plant: industrial footprint, Plant equipment selection (new / reuse / share), Plant layout, MIFD / MIFA, industrial trials …
  • Responsible for the launch planning and budget from definition till execution 
  • Participate in the development of Make or Buy strategy in accordance with Purchasing, Program and Plant(s)
  • Starting from phase 3, be responsible for HSE and ergonomic convergence in the Plant
  • Define the Industrial Development support team required resources in terms of workload, competencies and profiles
  • Manage the Industrial Development support team to ensure Industrial Development and Plant launch readiness by conducting reviews, assigning tasks, driving accountability and preparing launch related staffing and training plans



Approval of the following Process Development activities upstream:

  • HSE and ergonomic convergence until GR2b



  • Management of launch activities at the Plant:
  • Complete the Industrial Development support team with required resources (internal / external) in terms of workload, competencies and profiles
  • Liaise with UAPs and PC&Ls to plan production related runs / trials
  • Coordinate the installation and launch of production equipment and tooling
  • Support the production during the ramp-up after the handover



  • Leadership for all Industrial Development Program objectives at the Plant:
  • The IPM performance is evaluated based on Program Launch Report, Launch Cost and Status, respect of CAPEX, scrap rate, PPM, …
  • Ensure the Industrial Development milestones are passed successfully and on time


  • Ensure that series production meets customer requirements
  • Support to the continuous improvement process
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics
  • Adhere to Code of Management

Series production

  • Procurement of manufacturing equipment under consideration of demanded security, quality and environmental protection and their preservation
  • Manage equipment and tooling follow-up
  • Monitor and manage capacity and related investments
  • Contribute to define technical specifications for new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities
  • Direct and coordinate both repair and preventive maintenance requirements for all manufacturing equipment
  • Support the engineering change management process
  • Keep processes (machines, tools, procedures) at best possible level in compliance with HSE regulations and QCD
  • Build the engineering budget and the plant CAPEX; and ensure their application
  • Management of the plant central maintenance team
  • Monitor capacity utilization
  • Plan, monitor and coordinate the work of external companies  
  • Participate to the Division industrial strategy
  • Develop capital budget requirements to adhere to established facilities standards
  • Manage the spare parts and consumables warehouse
  • Be responsible for the computer aided maintenance management system
  • Create and introduce procedures regarding the tasks of his field of responsibility
  • Support problem solving initiatives
  • Participate to the plant PDP

Plant readiness to launch new programs

  • Participate in the definition of the production process and selection of machines and equipments
  • Lead the installation process of new machines and equipments
  • Support production in the start of new processes to ensure a successful SOP (initial samples, run @ rate, work instructions)
  • Participate to the gate reviews and validate the industrial gate reviews
  • Support to RFQ (Request for Quotation) in order to give manufacturing inputs

People Management

  • Staff, train coach, assess and develop the plant ME team (direct or dotted line)
  • Support and train other networks/functions (Production, FES, Quality, PC&L)
  • Participation in the management of the expertise network (knowledge capitalization)
  • Ensure the continuous development and coaching of maintenance technicians and engineers


  • Manage ME key indicators (TRS: change over, cycle time, reliability…)
  • Consolidate ME key indicators of the plants and propose action plans


Skills/Competencies :

Ideal candidate would have :

  • Engineering Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years manufacturing experience
  • Have a first experience in Program Management and 2 years in management position
  • Master appropriated tools
