Your mission, roles and responsibilities

The Program Controller is responsible for managing the financial aspects of a program during the acquisition and launch phases, ensuring robust financial planning, accurate business case development, and effective cost control. This role partners closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Program Management to provide financial insight, evaluate investment decisions, and support successful program execution from quotation through handoff to production.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of business plan financials in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable tax requirements.
  • Support and guide cross-functional acquisition teams on financial processes and controls.
  • Partner with Program Management and acquisition teams to ensure financial objectives and deliverables are achieved.
  • Work closely with technical costing teams to validate material cost assumptions and product cost models.
  • Analyze and validate the economic justification of program investments.
  • Lead make-versus-buy financial evaluations as required.
  • Participate in the development of action plans and provide financial analysis, evaluation, and follow-up.
  • Complete all required program management financial deliverables to support program handoff and execution.
  • Monitor spending against approved budgets, provide timely reporting, and identify corrective actions when budget risks arise.
  • Support the development of target program plans and long-range financial projections.
  • Coordinate assumptions and financial inputs with global finance and controlling teams.
  • Challenge and validate assumptions related to development, prototype, engineering, labor, capital, tooling, and operational expenditures.
  • Identify and analyze variances between initial and revised business plans throughout the quotation and acquisition process.
  • Recommend opportunities to improve program profitability while maintaining compliance with company standards.
  • Act as a data-driven business partner supporting alignment between Sales, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance.
  • Develop financial analyses to support strategic decision-making and program success.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in business efficiency, financial performance, and cost reduction.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across the organization.

Your profile and competencies to succeed

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, controlling, program finance, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional business teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Plant controlling or manufacturing finance experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting new product launches, program management, or acquisition activities is a plus.
  • Prior leadership or team coordination experience is beneficial.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business insights.
