Forvia, a sustainable mobility technology leader
We pioneer technology for mobility experience that matter to people.
Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The Metrology & Emissions Test Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting product design, development, durability, validation, and compliance testing activities across metrology laboratories and emissions/engine test cell environments. The role integrates advanced measurement science, calibration discipline, emissions instrumentation expertise, and automated test systems engineering to ensure measurement accuracy, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and operational excellence.
Main Responsibilities:
• Apply measurement science, engineering principles, and physics to perform precise calibration of Measurement & Test Equipment (M&TE), ensuring full traceability and compliance with ISO 17025 and ISO/TS quality standards.
• Develop, document, and optimize calibration procedures using national, international, industrial, and military standards, including automated calibration systems.
• Manage the M&TE program: maintain inventory, generate calibration due reports, track out‑of‑tolerance conditions, and ensure data accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Support emissions laboratory operations including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of emissions analyzers, FTIRs, smoke meters, mass spectrometers, and associated instrumentation.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical systems, analog/digital I/O, control signals, and engine test cell interfaces.
• Support engine and powertrain dynamometer testing, including AC motoring, eddy current, and water brake dynamometer systems.
• Lead automation and data acquisition initiatives using National Instruments LabVIEW, FEV Morphee, A&D I‑Test, and GageTrak calibration management software.
• Generate, analyze, and present monthly emissions and calibration data quality reports to engineering and leadership teams.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment aligned with HSE, 5S, and corporate safety policies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to support new product development, process optimization, measurement uncertainty analysis, and laboratory capability expansion.
• Collaborate quality, operations, and external partners to maintain world‑class testing capabilities, support new product development, and drive continuous improvement.
Your profile and competencies to succeed
The ideal candidate will have/be:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, MET, EET, or related technical discipline preferred.
• Requires hands-on experience with diesel engine systems, diagnostics, and operational maintenance.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation issues.
• Hands‑on experience with emissions analyzers, test cell instrumentation, calibration procedures, and measurement systems.
• Proficiency with LabVIEW, FEV Morphee, A&D I‑Test, and GageTrak required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows‑based engineering software.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and adherence to technical standards.
