Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The Cold End Product Specialist is the primary product development contact for the PDL, who is responsible at the vehicle level, throughout the product development phase. The Specialist collaborates with cross functional specialists and experts from CAD, FEA, CFD, NVH, and manufacturing to ensure the product is properly developed, validated and is manufacturable. Responsible for ensuring 3D design freeze in line with customer and internal milestones. Accountable for the development, design freeze, and validation of sub-systems and components to ensure that the overall vehicle architecture satisfies applicable requirements for durability, noise performance, gas flow optimization, thermal-mechanical stress management and heat management.
The main missions of the role are to:
- Lead full-system and subsystem product development to achieve robustness targets for durability, noise, NVH, heat management, safety, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Translate customer specifications and DVP requirements into FCM internal validation plans.
- Coordinate CAD, FEA, CFD, NVH, and manufacturing interfaces to ensure cold ends are developed, validated, and manufacturable.
- Ensure subsystem and component level development and validation while supporting the PDL with physical vehicle-level validation.
- Define appropriate design content, considering the usage of generic, carryover, and/or innovation related components.
- Support programs during the acquisition phase.
- Lead internal design reviews as the technical product leader to promote generic solutions, cost control, and manufacturability.
- Create and maintain generic DFMEAs, incorporating latest lessons learned.
- Lead problem solving and root cause analysis for premature or unexpected test failures.
- Represent NAO in global network activities, sharing lessons learned and supporting the development, use, and release of standards.
- Support Purchasing in supplier technical reviews and VAVE related activities.
- Evaluate DCS deviations and approve or reject as appropriate.
- Create, update, and release engineering generics and specifications for related systems, subassemblies, and components.
- Provide product training to the engineering community.
Your profile and competencies to succeed
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline, or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Automotive background is preferred.
- Proven ability to use CAE tools is a plus. (CFD, FEA, Flow Simulation)
- Knowledge or exposure to NVH
- Strong communication and problem solving skills.
- General automotive knowledge and Tier I or OEM engineering experience preferred.
