Your mission, roles and responsibilities

The Product Specialist is the primary product development contact supporting the PDL (vehicle level responsible) and interfaces and leads the CAD, FEA, CFD, NVH, Stamping, Canning  and Manufacturing Specialist to ensure product is developed and validated at a sub-system and component level, and supports the PDL with physical vehicle level validation.
Responsible for sub-system and component level development and validation to ensure vehicle level overall architecture meets; durability, noise levels, gas flow optimization, management of thermal-mechanical stress and heat management as applicable.


The main missions of the role are to:
▪    Lead the internal product develop of sub-systems that ensure robustness of the exhaust system for vehicle durability, NVH, heat management, emissions control, safety, manufacturing feasibility, etc.
▪    Align customer specifications and DVP to FCM internal validation requirements.
▪    Manage engineering interface with CAD, FEA, CFD, NVH, Stamping, Canning and Manufacturing specialist resources.
▪    Specialist to ensure product is developed and validated at a sub-system and component level, and supports the PDL with physical vehicle level validation.
▪    Ensure the latest knowledge and innovations are considered and incorporated into the design. 
▪    Participate in design reviews as the technical product leader to ensure products use generics in order to manage cost and manufacturability.
▪    Support programs in the acquisition phase. 
▪    Work with the manufacturing specialists to develop designs that are optimized for product manufacturability. (DFM)
▪    Responsible for creating and maintaining a generic DFMEAs ensuring that the latest lessons learned are incorporated and properly addressed.
▪    Lead component and sub-system, design, process and test related issues and contribute to the root cause analysis.
▪    Represent NAO in all related global network activities sharing and applying lessons learned in the usage, creation, and release of standards. 
▪    Provide training in specific product domains to the engineering community. 
▪    Work with purchasing when requested to support supplier technical meetings and decisions based on supplier capabilities and expertise. 
▪    Evaluate DCS deviations, and approve or reject as appropriate. 
▪    Responsible for creating, updating and releasing engineering Generics (specifications) for related systems, subassemblies or components. 

Your profile and competencies to succeed

The ideal candidate will have/be:
▪    Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline, or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Automotive background is preferred.
▪    Proven ability to use CAE tools is a positive.  (CFD, FEA, Flow Simulation)
▪    Strong communication (verbal and written) and problem solving skills. 
▪    General automotive knowledge and Tier I or OEM engineering experience preferred.
▪    Strong teamwork sense.
▪    DVP & R (working knowledge)
▪    Problem solving methodology
