Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The GL Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity, consistency, and reliability of the company’s accounting records through high-level technical execution and analysis. Working closely with the GL Coordinator, this role ensures full compliance with IFRS, local statutory requirements, and FCPs during monthly and annual closing processes.
The position requires solid technical expertise and hands‑on experience in IFRS 15 and IFRS 16, including the execution of recognition, measurement, presentation, and disclosure for revenues, contracts, and lease arrangements. In addition, the role demands proven experience in the accounting treatment and control of intangible assets, including tooling and engineering cost recognition, ensuring proper capitalization, amortization, and disclosure within the financial statements.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Focus
- Execute and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, preparing journal entries, adjustments, and high-quality account reconciliations in line with IFRS, local GAAP, and internal deadlines.
- Apply technical knowledge to complex accounting matters, ensuring precise documentation and compliance.
- Prepare and perform deep-dive reviews of balance sheet reconciliations, proactively identifying variances, aging items, or risks, and driving timely resolutions.
- Upload, reconcile, and validate financial data in Group consolidation systems (METIS), ensuring absolute alignment between local accounting records and Group-level reporting.
- Execute day-to-day accounting activities in strict adherence to internal controls (FCPs), identifying operational risks and proposing corrective actions.
- Act as a key operational contact for internal and external auditors, preparing required schedules, gathering deliverables, and providing clear technical explanations for accounting treatments.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and automation within the General Ledger function, leveraging system capabilities to increase efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior accountants or analysts, fostering a culture of accountability and a strong control-oriented mindset.
Your profile and competencies to succeed
Minimum Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of professional experience in accounting roles, preferably within complex, manufacturing, or multinational environments.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong hands-on knowledge of SAP FI modules
- Experience with METIS, Magritte, SmartView, and Tagetik (or similar Group reporting tools).
- Robust and practical understanding of IFRS (specifically IFRS 15, IFRS 16, and IAS 38) and local GAAP.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Strong analytical skills, results orientation, attention to detail, collaboration, effective communication, problem-solving, and accountability.
