Your mission, roles and responsibilities

Overall responsibilities and duties: 

The Buyer is responsible to develop and manage the supplier panel for a specific commodity segment, selecting suppliers according to Faurecia group criteria, apply purchasing policy, and develop suppliers to continuously improve QCD performance. The Buyer identifies and leads ideas and initiatives in order to improve the global productivity and achieve or surpass financial objectives. Additional responsibilities of the buyer are:

  • Improve financial performance of the Division through supplier negotiations, resourcing and productivity actions
  • Monitor supplier Quality, Cost and Delivery performance and challenge supplier when supplier is falling short of targets

The main responsibilities of the role are: 

Structure the Supplier Ecosystem

  • Design and continuously optimize a competitive and innovative steel supplier base, ensuring resilience, performance, and access to next-generation solutions.
  • Performs continual review and evaluation of the current supply base and also new potential suppliers through cross-functional supplier audits/visits based on the criteria provided by Group
  • Conduct management meetings to review and improve supplier performance

Enable Program Excellence

  • Ensure strong supplier engagement throughout program development phases, safeguarding quality, timing, and readiness for successful launches.

Accelerate Productivity & Value Creation

  • Develop and execute productivity roadmaps to deliver cost savings, performance improvements, and long-term value generation.
  • Responsible for delivering purchasing budget, updating forecast, reporting monthly savings
  • Progress savings from inception through to implementation

Drive Strategy ExecutionLead Strategic Negotiations

  • Own supplier negotiations, contracts, and budget commitments, while embedding sustainability targets into all commercial agreements to secure best-in-class performance.
  • Prepares and deploys Commodity Strategies & Cost Models for various commodities
  • Understand all cost break-downs and challenge supply base accordingly to ensure cost is optimized

Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders, providing expertise on quality, logistics, and technical topics, and contributing to cross-functional initiatives.

Lead Decarbonization Efforts

  • Drive Forvia’s steel decarbonization roadmap in close collaboration with suppliers, actively contributing to CO₂ reduction and responsible sourcing commitments.
  • Lead the deployment of the North America steel commodity strategy, fully aligned with business objectives and Forvia’s sustainability ambitions.
  • Follows market trends for specific commodities and raw materials

Your profile and competencies to succeed

Minimum education level: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field. 

Experience:

  • 5 years in automotive industry
  • 5 years in purchasing functions
  • SAP experience (preferred)

Skills & Competencies:

  • Must have very good Excel and Word skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to accommodate ~15% - 20% travel (domestic)
