Your mission, roles and responsibilities

The role of a Process Engineer is to support process development and improvement, validate product innovations; Ensure development and deployment of process standards, design checklist and guidelines, best practices; and support programs, plants and suppliers for process issues; and maintain a tooling and equipment database.

 

The main missions will be to gain development and learning on the following:

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tooling and equipment
  • Support production or parts suppliers to solve problems related to his/her field of expertise.
  • Maintenance of series production: engineering change management: analyse, validate and implement process modifications related to his/her field of expertise, Customer specific and IATF Requirements.
  • Maintain a local database of tooling and equipment to support capacity management.
  • Programs: feedback existing status and plant’s recommendations for process issues; participate to tooling and equipment follow-up and validations and support reception and start-up of tooling and equipment.
  • Standards and best practices: ensure application of process standards; identify best practices for his/her expertise network.
  • Simultaneous Engineering: ensure that checklists and guidelines for product design are applied; validate technology choices; ensure product manufacturability
  • Process development: define process solutions and ensure that process standards are applied; follow-up prototypes build (when applicable); Identify available capacity; release tooling and equipment specifications.
  • Tooling and equipment procurement: support the purchasing organization during suppliers selections and negotiations; follow-up tooling and equipment at suppliers; manage tooling and equipment reception.
  • Generic processes: Simultaneous Engineering and product innovation - define and maintain checklists and guidelines for product design; Prepare process inputs and participate to the M3 gate Review of the product innovation process. 
  • Process improvement and innovation; develop and improve processes related to his/her field of expertise; develop cooperation with equipment suppliers, universities, etc…
  • Standardization: define, maintain and improve process standards in his/her field of expertise (tooling, equipment), create and maintain related specifications, ensure that process standards are applied (plants and programs) 
  • Best practices: Identify and validate best practices in his/her perimeter; Integrate best practices in process guidelines and/or standards; Promote and ensure deployment of best practices
  • Capacity management: Maintain and update a database of tooling and equipment related to his/her field of expertise.
  • Purchasing: Support the purchasing organization in developing and assisting tooling and equipment suppliers for all issues related to his/her field of expertise

Your profile and competencies to succeed

Qualification/s

The minimum qualification/s required for this position is/are:

  • National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Tool-Maker Trade.

Professional Experience 

  • Knowledge of full assembly lines.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an industrial environment (automotive preferred)
  • Skilled problem solver, Strong Communication Skills. Proven Technical skills in process and product.

Skills and competencies

  • Technically skilled on product and process design, such as FMEA, TAKT time, and ergonomics
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of Quality systems and Health, Safety & Environment skills
  • Coaching and influencing/persuasion skills
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills
  • Continuous improvement mind set
  • Innovation and change management skills
  • Ability to handle pressure; deadline orientated
  • Fluent English language knowledge written and spoken.
  • Problem Diagnosis and analytic skills to understand contexts and define/support the definition of action plans
