Your mission, roles and responsibilities

The role of a Commodity Leader is to develop and deploy a commodity strategy to ensure supplier capabilitites and relationships meet business needs. The role continues to select, develop, and pilot suppliers from the agreed supplier panel in order to achieve Program objectives. The main missions of the role are to:

  • Structure the building of the panel: participate in the definition and the implementation of the purchasing panel policy for assigned commodities, manage supplier selection according to Group criteria, identify and develop supply base in accordance with Forvia footprint.
  • Panel management: ensure a regular follow-up of the supplier performance in relation with the Supplier Quality Assurance Manager and implement a supplier optimization plan consistent with Divisions and in coordination with the Business Groups, ensure utilization of the panel by entire enterprise.
  • Deliver performance for assigned commodities in alignment with budget through collaboration with Productivity and Program Buyers.
  • Develop and implement tools to improve productivity, processes, and reporting functions.
  • Negotiate and implement general agreements with the strategic suppliers.
  • Ensure the reporting of his or her activities following defined policies.

 

Your profile and competencies to succeed

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering mechanical or industrial
  • International purchasing experience a plus
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Commodity Buyer in an industrial environment mainly automotive
  • Expertise in stamping commodity, with specific knowledge in steel alloys, stamping process
  • Experience in localization, develop, audit and resource potential stamping suppliers
  • Experience conducting benchmarks, workshops and negotiations of minimum 40MUSD spend
  • Results orientation with strong written and oral communications skills    
  • International mind set, overseas experience a plus 
  • Self driven, low maintenance and customer internal – external satisfaction oriented
  • Fluent English required
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of ERP SAP
