The VIE Program enables young graduates from the European Economic Area (EU + Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), aged between 18 and 28, to develop internationally within our global operations.

What is your role and surroundings?
Our Forvia Interiors T&E Commodity Team in Shanghai is looking for a VIE – Supplier Quality Development Engineer (m/f) to support the qualification and continuous improvement of suppliers delivering tooling & equipment.
The T&E perimeter includes injection tooling, checking fixtures, robotics, welding systems, automation, cutting/sewing equipment, foaming machines, etc. You will collaborate closely with Commodity Managers, T&E Buyers, Engineering, Program Teams and Industrialization.

 
What will be your main missions?

  • 1. Supplier Qualification & Audit

    Participate in the qualification of new suppliers for tooling & equipment.
    Support audits (process audits, capacity checks, CSR audits) and follow up on action plans.
    Evaluate suppliers against Forvia’s quality, HSE and compliance standards.

    2. Industrial Quality Management

    Contribute to equipment quality validation: capability checks, tool trials, and performance assessments.
    Support risk analysis and mitigation actions for suppliers involved in new program launches.
    Monitor supplier industrial readiness and escalate risks when necessary.

    3. Non‑Conformity & Issue Resolution

    Assist in managing supplier issues: non‑conformities, delays, performance gaps.
    Ensure root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies (8D, PDCA) are properly applied.
    Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to secure corrective actions.

    4. Continuous Improvement & Cost of Non‑Quality (CONQ)

    Participate in continuous improvement plans with suppliers (quality, process capability, scrap reduction).
    Track and analyze key SQD metrics such as defect rates, CONQ, rework hours, and delivery performance.

    5. Documentation & Standard Compliance

    Ensure alignment with Forvia SQD and project procedures.
    Maintain supplier documentation: control plans, PPAP elements, qualification reports.
    Contribute to knowledge management and best‑practice sharing across global SQD networks.

    6. Cross‑functional Collaboration

    Work closely with Commodity Buyers to align on supplier capabilities and risks.
    Support engineering teams during new equipment development phases.
    Assist in program reviews, RFQ technical assessments and feasibility checks.

Your profile and competencies to succeed

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering or similar.
  • First experience in quality, industrialization or manufacturing equipment is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English; Mandarin is a strong asset.
  • Ability to work with suppliers and internal teams across multiple regions.
