Global Commodity Manager - Energy

Interiors is looking for its future Indirect Purchasing Global Commodity Manager – Energy who will define and deploy the global sourcing strategy for electricity, gas, utilities and energy services. The role secures competitive costs, supply continuity and sustainable energy solutions while coordinating suppliers, regional buyers and key internal stakeholders. The position can be based in Spain, Valencia or Portugal, Santa Maria da Feira.

 

KEY MISSIONS:
•    Define and deploy the global Energy commodity strategy, sourcing roadmap and purchasing policies across electricity, gas, utilities, heating and cooling, water-related utilities, energy services and decarbonization instruments.
•    Consolidate global and regional demand, identify aggregation opportunities and align sourcing waves with site requirements, contract expiries, budgets and business priorities.
•    Lead global and multi-country RFQ and tender processes, from market consultation and bid design through negotiation, recommendation, award and implementation.
•    Negotiate and manage strategic energy supply agreements, framework contracts and long-term commercial arrangements, in coordination with Legal, Finance and relevant technical stakeholders.
•    Design, qualify and manage the global supplier panel, including supplier selection, onboarding, evaluation, rationalization and performance scorecards.
•    Ensure supplier performance in cost, service, reliability, quality, contractual compliance and delivery, and lead escalation and recovery plans when required.
•    Develop energy-market intelligence covering regulation, supply-and-demand dynamics, price drivers, tariff structures and regional market conditions; translate insights into sourcing decisions and management recommendations.
•    Build cost models, price benchmarks and total-cost-of-ownership analyses to support fact-based negotiations, budgeting and sourcing decisions.
•    Drive energy-cost optimization and price-risk awareness, providing Finance and business stakeholders with transparent assumptions, sensitivities, scenarios and forecast inputs.
•    Protect supply continuity by assessing market, supplier, regulatory and operational risks and by maintaining appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
•    Support the company’s sustainability and decarbonization ambitions by increasing access to renewable-energy solutions, green contracts and credible energy-related instruments in coordination with Sustainability and Operations.
•    Partner with Industrial, HSE, Real Estate, Finance and site teams on energy-efficiency opportunities, demand management, specifications and implementation of awarded solutions.
•    Coordinate the global Energy purchasing network, including regional commodity managers and buyers, ensuring consistent execution of the strategy, governance and supplier decisions.
•    Define annual savings and productivity targets, validate and track results with Finance, and prepare commodity performance reviews and reports.
•    Ensure compliance with purchasing policies, delegation of authority, competition rules, contractual standards, responsible-sourcing requirements and applicable energy regulations.
•    Drive continuous improvement, standardization, digitalization and data quality across Energy purchasing processes, tools, contracts and reporting.

Your profile and competencies to succeed

Minimum education level:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent level in Business, Engineering, Energy, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Economics or a related field.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in procurement, commodity management, energy purchasing or utilities within an international environment. Proven experience in strategic sourcing, negotiations, supplier management and market analysis is required. Experience with electricity, gas, renewable energy or multi-country tenders is strongly valued.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of energy markets, procurement and major price drivers.
  • Proven strategic-sourcing, negotiation and contract-management capability.
  • Strong supplier, risk and business-continuity management.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including cost modelling, TCO and scenario analysisUnderstanding of renewable-energy sourcing and decarbonization objective
  • Strong stakeholder management across Purchasing, Operations, Finance, Sustainability, Legal and HSE
  • Ability to lead a global network in a matrix organization
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
