Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The Welding Specialist plays a cross-functional role, ensuring industrial consistency within their field of expertise across plants, programs, or general processes. This position may be based in either Columbus, IN, or Querétaro, MX.
The main missions of the role are:
- Support processes development and improvement, and validate product innovations or non standard solutions (MVP)
- Ensure development and deployment of process standards, Design Check Sheets (DCS) and Equipment Building Blocks, collection of best practices to create/update new standards
- Develop expertise in core manufacturing process and transfer knowledge to other functional areas.
- Support programs, plants and suppliers for process issues.
- Direct welding & joining trials / experiments and evaluation of results.
- Propose investigation and application of emerging joining technologies. Identify, plan and coordinate the development and implementation of new manufacturing technology, processes, tooling and fixtures.
- Work with product and manufacturing engineering to provide suggestions to improve design for manufacturing.
- Follow Lean Manufacturing principles to minimize waste and improve process flow.
- Work with vendors to develop manufacturing processes that will consistently meet Faurecia process specifications.
- Provide leadership, technical & organizational support for joining development projects.
- Create and maintain related specifications. Ensure that process standards are applied (plants and programs).
Your profile and competencies to succeed
• University Degree in Welding or Materials Engineering, plus a minimum of five years experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or Advanced Manufacturing Engineer.
• Prior experience with theory & application of a variety of welding & joining processes including MIG, TIG, LASER, Resistance, Induction, Brazing, Soldering.
• Understanding of welding and metallurgy of stainless steels.
• Lean manufacturing techniques, statistical process controls, FMEA's, strong interpersonal skills required.
• Good communication skills
